LAKE LEWISVILLE, Texas - A Denton man died Sunday evening following a drowning incident near Eagle Point Marina at Lake Lewisville, according to authorities.
The Lewisville Fire Department and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department personnel responded around 7 p.m. May 24 to reports of a possible drowning near the marina.
Emergency crews located an unconscious man who had already been pulled from the water and immediately began resuscitation efforts.
Authorities said CPR was administered at the scene and continued during transport, but the victim was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Investigators with Texas Parks and Wildlife said two brothers were attempting to dock a boat when the victim fell into the water and was unable to climb back aboard or safely reach the dock.
Officials said the boat operator was able to bring the victim back to shore, where CPR was initiated before first responders arrived.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as 48-year-old Jeffrey Poarch of Denton.
Authorities said the incident remains under investigation by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
