GRANBURY, Texas — Two people were airlifted to a Fort Worth hospital Wednesday morning following a three-vehicle crash on Highway 144 South in Granbury, according to authorities.
The Granbury Police Department said officers responded at approximately 7:13 a.m. on May 13, 2026, to the 3000 block of Highway 144 South near Rock Harbor Drive, just south of Stumpy's Lakeside Grill.
The Granbury Fire Department, Texas EMS, and the Hood County Sheriff's Office also responded to assist with the crash scene and traffic control.
Authorities said the severity of the collision forced the closure of both northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 144 for approximately two hours while crews worked the scene and investigators processed evidence.
According to police, drivers from two of the vehicles involved suffered serious bodily injuries and were flown to a Fort Worth hospital by CareFlite and Air Evac Lifeteam helicopters.
Preliminary findings indicate the driver believed to be at fault was traveling southbound and attempted to make a left turn across traffic at a location that was not an intersection.
Investigators said the driver failed to yield the right of way to northbound vehicles, causing the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
