ARLINGTON, Texas — A 33-year-old man with a prior violent criminal history has been arrested and charged after a domestic assault call led to a struggle with police and a brief escape from custody, according to Arlington police.
Officers responded April 17 to a 911 call at the Creek at Brookhollow Apartments in the 2500 block of Brookway Lane. A 31-year-old woman told officers her boyfriend, Marty Justin White, had assaulted her during an argument. She told police the abuse had occurred multiple times over the past year.
Investigators said White has prior convictions, including a 2021 guilty plea in Dallas County for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon involving family violence. In that case, he was accused of cutting a former girlfriend in the face with scissors and was sentenced to two years in prison. He was also convicted in Collin County in November 2022 for unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Based on the victim’s account, physical evidence and White’s behavior toward officers, police attempted to take him into custody. Authorities said he resisted arrest before officers were able to subdue and handcuff him.
While officers were still on scene speaking with the victim, White managed to escape custody and attempted to flee, but was quickly captured.
He was initially taken to the Arlington Jail and later transferred to the Tarrant County Corrections Center, where he remains in custody.
White is charged with continuous violence against the family, resisting arrest and escape from custody. His bond was set at $27,000.
