IRVING, Texas — A 23-year-old Irving man was arrested after police say a domestic disturbance led to allegations of strangulation, child injury and interference with a 911 call.
Irving police responded Thursday night, April 16, 2026, to a reported domestic disturbance at a residence in Irving.
When officers arrived, they made contact with the victim and the suspect, identified as Andrew Jaykob Galvez.
According to police, the victim told officers Galvez choked her to the point she could not breathe.
Police also confirmed a child was injured during the disturbance. Authorities declined to release details about the child because of the nature of the case and to protect the victim’s identity.
Investigators said Galvez also attempted to prevent the victim from calling 911.
Galvez was arrested and booked into the Irving Jail.
He is charged with:
- Assault Family Member by Impeding Breathing or Circulation
- Injury to a Child with Intent to Cause Bodily Injury
- Interfering with Emergency Request for Assistance
Court records also show Galvez has several pending criminal cases, including an August 2025 arrest, June 2025 drug charges in Tarrant County, a March 2025 arrest for assault of a pregnant person, and a November 2024 arrest for unlawful carrying of a weapon.
All of those cases remain pending.
