DALLAS — A man wanted in connection with a deadly boating crash in Arizona has been arrested in Dallas and is awaiting extradition, authorities said.
Dallas Police officers arrested 49-year-old Larry Jack Lyons on the morning of April 9, 2026, on a warrant out of Parker, Arizona. He is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail pending extradition.
Lyons is accused in a June 13, 2025, boating crash on the Colorado River that killed 23-year-old Ryan William Gilbert. Authorities said the crash occurred around 9 p.m. when a boat operated by Lyons struck a rock formation known as “Idiot Rock” on the Arizona side of the river near the Echo Lodge Resort.
The boat was carrying eight people at the time. Seven individuals were injured, several seriously, and Gilbert, a passenger, died from his injuries.
Investigators determined Lyons was intoxicated at the time of the crash. Arizona authorities charged him with second-degree murder, reckless manslaughter, aggravated assault, and three counts of operating a watercraft while intoxicated involving both alcohol and drugs.
A warrant for Lyons’ arrest was issued April 1, 2026, following months of investigation.
