TARRANT COUNTY, Texas - An accidental shooting at an indoor gun range in White Settlement left one person injured Saturday afternoon.
Officers responded around 4:41 p.m. on March 21, 2026, to the Shoot Smart located in the 8200 block of West Freeway (I-30) following reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they immediately began administering first aid to control bleeding until fire and EMS crews took over.
Investigators determined that three adults had been at the range for a shooting session. After finishing, one individual removed the magazine from a firearm but continued handling the weapon.
Police said the individual was holding the gun with their hand covering the muzzle when they pulled the trigger, causing the weapon to discharge and resulting in a serious hand injury.
The injured person was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Authorities said the injuries are not life-threatening.
White Settlement Police confirmed that no foul play is suspected. The firearm involved was legally possessed, and no criminal charges are expected.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of proper firearm handling and safety, even after a shooting session has concluded.
