KRUGERVILLE, Texas - A driver attempting to avoid a traffic stop in Krugerville was arrested after officers uncovered multiple violations and an active warrant.
According to police, the driver passed a Krugerville officer and then tried to evade contact by turning into a neighborhood.
The officer was able to catch up and initiate a traffic stop after identifying several violations using an in-car license plate reader.
During the stop, the driver was uncooperative and questioned why he had been pulled over.
Officers determined the vehicle’s registration was two years expired and it did not have valid insurance. They also found the driver’s license had been suspended and expired for more than eight years.
Further investigation revealed the driver had an outstanding warrant for a probation violation, which led to his arrest.
The driver was booked into the Denton County Jail on the warrant. He was also issued citations for the additional violations.
Police released the vehicle to a passenger who had a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Officials said the incident highlights the effectiveness of license plate reader technology in helping officers identify violations and safely carry out enforcement actions.
