Three-Alarm Apartment Fire Displaces Two Dozen Residents in Arlington

ARLINGTON, Texas - A three-alarm fire at an apartment complex Monday afternoon displaced 24 residents but caused no reported injuries, according to the Arlington Fire Department.

Fire crews were dispatched at 1:34 p.m. to reports of an apartment fire in the 4900 block of Sigmond Drive. While en route, responding units observed a large column of smoke and requested a second alarm to bring additional resources to the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions on the first and second floors of the building and immediately began an aggressive fire attack while conducting a primary search for occupants. Fire later broke through the roof, prompting officials to request a third alarm to ensure sufficient personnel and equipment were available.

The fire was brought under control approximately 20 minutes after the first unit arrived. The Pantego Fire Department assisted with the response.

The 16-unit apartment building included one vacant unit at the time of the fire. Apartment management reported that 24 residents, including 19 adults and five children, were displaced. The American Red Cross has been notified and is providing temporary housing and support services to affected residents.

Officials said the cause of the fire remains under investigation. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
