Hood County Sheriff’s deputies and multiple emergency agencies responded Saturday to a report of a suspicious item along Fall Creek Highway that initially raised concerns it could be explosive.
On December 27, 2025, deputies were dispatched to the 4200 block of Fall Creek Highway after a report of a suspicious item, possibly explosive in nature. Hood County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded alongside DCBE Volunteer Fire Department, Texas EMS, and the Hood County Fire Marshal’s Office.
When responders arrived, the item appeared concerning enough that the Fort Worth Bomb Squad was requested to assist. After evaluating the item, the Bomb Squad determined it was not an explosive, despite its appearance.
Investigators followed up on several leads during the incident and later determined that an elderly individual involved was unaware the item was inside a bag of papers that had been dropped off.
For the safety of the public and emergency personnel, Fall Creek Highway was temporarily shut down while the situation was assessed. Authorities noted that closing a roadway is never taken lightly but was necessary under the circumstances.
The Hood County Sheriff’s Office thanked all assisting agencies for their cooperation and expressed appreciation to the community for its patience and understanding during the response.
