Irving Police Arrest Man in Undercover Prostitution Operation

Carlos Abreu

On Tuesday, November 18, an Irving Police investigator working undercover with the department’s Vice Unit made an arrest during a human-trafficking enforcement operation. The investigator had responded to an online ad on a site known through prior investigations to be used almost exclusively for soliciting sexual services.

Using the number listed in the ad, the officer began texting with the individual behind it. During the exchange, the officer negotiated sexual acts in exchange for money. After agreeing on a price, both parties arranged to meet at the Studio 6 Hotel in the 4100 block of W. John Carpenter Freeway.

A short time later, the officer received a message stating that the person had arrived in the hotel parking lot and was ready for the room number. After the officer provided it, surveillance units positioned around the location saw 22-year-old Carlos Abreu drive in, park, and get out of his vehicle.

As Abreu exited the vehicle, investigators moved in and detained him. He was taken into custody without incident. Abreu was booked into the Irving Jail at approximately 2:15 p.m. and charged with Prostitution, based on the negotiated text conversation with the undercover officer.

He was transferred to the Dallas County Jail the next day, November 19. His bond was set at $500. The charge is a Class B misdemeanor, carrying a possible sentence of up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $2,000.
