On Monday, November 24, 2025, the Dallas Police Department paid tribute to fallen Officer Gary R. Blair, #4500, by dedicating a street topper in his honor at 1400 N. Zang Boulevard.
Officer Blair was killed in the line of duty on March 20, 1986, during a traffic stop near a local apartment complex. A confrontation with the suspect led to Officer Blair being shot. He returned fire, and both he and the suspect tragically died at the scene.
Remembered as a devoted father and committed law enforcement officer, Officer Blair’s courage and dedication continue to inspire the department.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by Chief Comeaux’s command staff, members of the Dallas and DeSoto Police Departments, and Officer Blair’s family, who gathered to honor his lasting legacy of service and sacrifice.
