The City of Irving has achieved Platinum-level Scenic City Certification from Scenic Texas, a distinction that highlights its ongoing commitment to urban beautification and scenic conservation. This latest recognition marks a significant upgrade from Irving’s Bronze-level designation in 2010 and secures the city’s status through 2030.
The award was presented on October 30 at the Texas Municipal League Annual Conference in Fort Worth, placing Irving among the state’s most visually and environmentally progressive cities. The Platinum certification acknowledges the city’s efforts to preserve natural beauty, maintain historic charm, and create thoughtfully planned public spaces for residents and visitors alike.
To qualify for certification, cities must meet core requirements, including strict sign ordinances, a ban on new billboards, and comprehensive tree-planting and landscaping programs. Applicants are further evaluated on more than 70 criteria, including park and open-space standards, lighting design, litter control, and utility management. Platinum is the highest certification level.
Irving’s progression from Bronze in 2010 to Platinum reflects its consistent dedication to visual and environmental standards. The city’s achievements include a Tree City USA designation and a comprehensive landscaping ordinance covering major roadways, medians, and public areas — all reinforcing Irving’s commitment to a clean, green, and cohesive urban environment.
