DALLAS COUNTY, Texas—A Dallas County jury has found 57-year-old Jose Ricardo Cruz-Vasquez of Irving guilty of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child: Victim under 14. Following the verdict, the jury sentenced him to 25 years in prison.
The jury's guilty finding and sentencing occurred on September 19, 2025. Due to the sentence length, Cruz-Vasquez will not be eligible for parole until he is 82 years old. He has been ordered to register as a sex offender.
Cruz-Vasquez was arrested by Irving Police Officers on June 29, 2022, following an investigation into an offense that took place in June 2014. The victim's abuse was brought to light after an outcry was made to an employee of Duncanville ISD.
The Dallas County District Attorney's Office confirmed that Cruz-Vasquez is an illegal immigrant, according to DFW-INS. The defendant is appealing the conviction.
The case was prosecuted by Lead Prosecutor Shanna Gosey and Delayna Griffin, with investigation support from the Irving Police Department and the DA's office.
