Irving Police Arrest Man After Pursuit; Suspect Wanted on Parole Violation for Child Injury Case

Garnett Eugene Freeman II

IRVING, TX – A traffic stop in North Irving escalated into a pursuit Friday night, ultimately leading to the arrest of a man wanted on a parole violation related to a child injury conviction.

On September 26, 2025, an Irving Police officer observed a vehicle run a red light. When the officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver accelerated and tried to flee. Additional officers joined the pursuit and were able to force the vehicle to a stop.

The driver resisted arrest but was eventually handcuffed and identified as 37-year-old Garnett Eugene Freeman II of Irving, who resides at an apartment on Polaris Drive. Police say Freeman was found to be driving with an invalid license, no insurance, and in possession of under two ounces of marijuana.

Further investigation revealed that Freeman was wanted by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office for a parole violation. Court records show he was convicted in September 2022 of Injury to a Child – Reckless Causing Serious Bodily Injury stemming from an August 2018 arrest in Irving, when he attempted to discipline a child by placing and pouring water over the child’s face and mouth. He received a four-year probation sentence under a plea agreement.

Freeman’s probation was later revoked in June 2024 after repeated violations, including multiple failed drug tests for marijuana and failing to report to his supervision officer for three consecutive months. A warrant was issued by Dallas County at that time.

Freeman was booked into the Irving City Jail and will face both local charges and the outstanding warrant.
