IRVING, Texas — Two men were arrested Monday morning after Irving police responded to a report of vehicle break-ins in North Irving.
Officers say a 911 caller reported seeing two suspects attempting to burglarize vehicles on September 22. Responding officers located 22-year-old Brandon Gerard McGee of Cedar Hill and 25-year-old Eddie Lee Smith of Dallas matching the caller’s description.
Both men were taken into custody and charged with Burglary of Vehicles. Police say McGee also had outstanding traffic violation warrants from Dallas, Cedar Hill, and Wilmer.
The Irving Police Department says it is committed to addressing these crimes amid a rise in suspects from outside the city targeting Irving residents.
How to Prevent Vehicle Break-ins
- Lock it up: Make it a habit to lock your doors and close all windows and sunroofs, even for short trips.
- Hide valuables: Don't leave anything tempting in plain sight. Store items like phones, bags, and electronics in the trunk.
- Choose your spot wisely: Park in well-lit areas or near entrances where there is more foot traffic.
- Secure your keys: Never leave your keys in the vehicle.
