DENTON, Texas — The Denton Police Department is investigating a Saturday afternoon shooting in downtown Denton that left one man dead.
At approximately 12:10 p.m., multiple 911 callers reported gunfire in the 200 block of W. Hickory Street.
According to the preliminary investigation, a disturbance occurred on the Downtown Square between a male patron and a homeless man before the shooting. The suspected shooter remained at the scene and was detained by police for questioning upon their arrival.
The victim was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The investigation is ongoing.
