Irving First Responders Honored for Saving Man in Cardiac Arrest After Crash

IRVING, TX — Firefighters and police officers from the Irving Fire and Police Departments were recognized with the 2025 Life Saving Award by Medical City Las Colinas for their swift actions that saved the life of Luis Marchany Cuevas.

On May 9, first responders arrived at the scene of a low-speed crash and found Cuevas in cardiac arrest. Irving Police officers immediately began CPR and administered critical aid until paramedics from the Irving Fire Department arrived and continued lifesaving measures on the way to the hospital.

Cuevas was admitted to the ICU at Medical City Las Colinas, where he remained for 10 days before making a full recovery. He attended the award ceremony alongside his family.
