FORT WORTH, TX – The Fort Worth Fire Department (FWFD) officially marked its transition to providing emergency medical services (EMS) on July 1st, responding to 821 calls for service within its first 24 hours.
The department highlighted the initial period by capturing photos of the very final MedStar run and the very first FWFD EMS run. Officials noted that residents will continue to see ambulances marked with the MedStar logo and EMS crew members wearing "MedStar" uniforms for the next year or so, as the rebranding of the fleet and uniforms will take time.
"As with any transition of this size and magnitude, these types of changes and details don't happen overnight," the FWFD stated. "Our focus is on the patients and providing the best emergency medical services to the residents and guests of this City."
Despite the busy start, the department reported a smooth transition. "It was a BUSY first 24 hours but we were ready, prepared and things went smoothly," the FWFD affirmed, expressing appreciation for public support and patience during this new chapter.
