Edward Myles Wheeler

A 19-year-old Irving man is facing multiple felony charges after leading police on a high-speed chase in a stolen truck during the early morning hours of Sunday, June 22, 2025.

At approximately 12:39 a.m., Irving Police received a report of an auto theft in progress at a residence on the 600 block of W. 16th Street. The stolen vehicle, a 2023 black Chevrolet Silverado valued at $80,000, belonged to a 43-year-old woman.

An officer located the stolen vehicle near the scene and attempted a traffic stop. The driver refused to comply, initiating a high-speed pursuit involving seven Irving Police officers through the streets of South Irving.

The suspect eventually stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. After a short foot chase, officers apprehended him. During a search, police recovered a firearm and illegal narcotics in his possession.

The suspect was identified as Edward Myles Wheeler, 19, of Irving. He resides on Blackwell Drive near North Irving Heights Drive and graduated from MacArthur High School earlier this year.

Wheeler was booked into the Irving Jail and charged with:

  • Theft of Property ($30,000–$100,000)

  • Evading Arrest/Detention with a Vehicle

  • Evading Arrest on Foot

  • Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance PG2 (1–4 grams)

Further investigation revealed Wheeler had multiple open warrants from Dallas County, including:

  • Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (out on bond)

  • Three warrants for Violation of Probation after being convicted of Aggravated Robbery

His total bond has been set at $216,500 and remains incarcerated at the Dallas County Jail due to having committed the recent crime while out on bond.
