The morning of June 18, 2025, turned into a high-speed and high-stakes operation for Mesquite Police Department officers, who recovered two stolen vehicles and arrested two suspects in separate but connected incidents.
Around 4:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Sumner following a report of a stolen black Chevrolet Camaro. Officers quickly located the vehicle still in the area and began surveillance. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver fled southbound on Belt Line Road, initiating a pursuit.
The chase ended on New Market Road near Interstate 635, where the Camaro crashed. The driver was taken into custody without injuries.
Less than 30 minutes later, while processing the first scene, another Mesquite officer spotted a second stolen black Camaro near the original location. A second pursuit began, heading north on Belt Line Road and west on Highway 80 into Dallas.
The vehicle exited at Jim Miller Road and crashed just west of the ramp. Two suspects fled on foot. One was apprehended immediately, while the other ran into a nearby car dealership, where officers successfully located and arrested him.
Officers recovered two handguns from the second vehicle, which had been reported stolen out of Rockwall Police Department.
Both vehicles were recovered, and two suspects are now in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
