Repeat DWI Offender Arrested in Irving for Felony Drunk Driving Charge

Lee Chapman Hardin

In the early hours of Wednesday, June 18, an Irving Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a suspected intoxicated driver. The driver, identified as 64-year-old Lee Chapman Hardin of Arlington, was determined to be impaired and later tested positive for alcohol through a blood draw.

Hardin was booked into the Irving Jail at 2:23 a.m. and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (Blood), 3rd or More Offense, a third-degree felony under Texas law. If convicted, the charge carries a potential prison sentence ranging from 2 to 10 years.

According to court records, Hardin's first DWI conviction was in January 2005, resulting in a two-year probation sentence. He was again charged with DWI in 2016 following an arrest by a Tarrant County deputy. Most recently, in January 2024, he was arrested by Bedford Police and charged with DWI 3rd or more.

Hardin remains in custody as legal proceedings continue.
