On Tuesday evening, May 27, 2025, at approximately 8:37 p.m., Temple Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a structure fire in the 700 block of Industrial Blvd. Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from a vacant facility at 612 Industrial Blvd., a building that once operated as a nursing home.
Due to the size and intensity of the fire, a multiple alarm response was initiated. Fire crews began suppression efforts while simultaneously evacuating residents from nearby Asbury Park Apartments. A few units in the apartment complex suffered thermal damage due to the proximity of the blaze. No injuries have been reported.
The nursing home building was declared a total loss.
Assistance on scene included the Killeen Fire Department, Troy Volunteer Fire Department, Temple Police Department, Temple EMS, and Temple Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). Additional support covering routine calls in Temple was provided by Belton Fire Department, Morgans Point Resort Fire Department, and Salado Fire Department.
The Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the cause of the blaze. Crews remain on scene to monitor and extinguish hot spots, with a Temple Fire drone being used to locate hidden flames within the debris. Atmos Energy is also on site to address an active gas line.
Authorities urge the public to avoid the area as road closures remain in effect.
