Fatal Hit-and-Run Collision in Grand Prairie Leaves 12-Year-Old Dead

The Grand Prairie Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into a fatal traffic collision that took place on Friday, June 23rd, in the 2200 block of S. Belt Line Road. The incident, which involved a hit-and-run, resulted in the tragic death of a 12-year-old passenger.

According to authorities, at approximately 10:45 pm, a vehicle was traveling southbound on Belt Line Road when it collided with a passenger car that was in the process of making a left turn onto East Cober Drive. Shockingly, the driver of the first vehicle immediately fled the scene on foot, leaving behind a trail of devastation.

Emergency services quickly responded to the scene, where they found a passenger from the struck vehicle suffering from injuries. The individual was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Fortunately, the injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.

Meanwhile, the driver of the passenger car involved in the collision was also rushed to a local hospital. Although they sustained injuries, they were reported to be non-life-threatening.

Tragically, the young 12-year-old male passenger, whose identity has not yet been released, was critically injured in the crash. Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital.

In the subsequent investigation, the driver who fled the scene has been identified as Damian Torres, a 21-year-old individual. Today, Saturday, Torres turned himself in to the authorities and is now in custody at the Grand Prairie Detention Center. He is currently facing multiple charges, including Manslaughter, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Accident Involving Death, and Accident Involving Injury.
