Stolen License Plate Leads to Pursuit, Fatal Crash in Midlothian

A vehicle displaying a stolen license plate, initially spotted by Mansfield Police, led to a pursuit that ended in a fatal head-on collision in Midlothian on Sunday morning.

On Sunday, May 11, 2025, at approximately 11:01 a.m., Mansfield Police officers were alerted to a vehicle with a stolen license plate entering the city on FM 917. Officers located the suspect vehicle in the 1800 block of Towne Crossing Blvd. The vehicle, occupied by a driver and a front-seat passenger, fled the area and entered U.S. 287 southbound from the 900 block of N. Walnut Creek Drive.

The suspect vehicle continued to evade officers, entering the city of Midlothian. In the 4000 block of West U.S. 287, the vehicle entered the northbound lanes of traffic while traveling southbound, resulting in a head-on collision with another vehicle.

The driver of the suspect vehicle was ejected from the car and pronounced deceased at the scene. The front-seat passenger was transported by CareFlite to Methodist Central Hospital in Dallas in critical condition.

All occupants of the second vehicle involved in the collision were transported to Methodist Mansfield Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities have not yet positively identified the driver and front-seat passenger of the suspect vehicle. The vehicle was confirmed to have been stolen from the city of Grand Prairie.

The Mansfield Police Department is investigating the initial stolen license plate report and pursuit, while the Midlothian Police Department is conducting the investigation into the fatal collision. The investigation is ongoing.
