On Thursday, May 8, 2025, the Irving Police Department held a solemn ceremony to honor Texas officers who have fallen in the past year. The event also served as a remembrance for Irving's own three officers who made the ultimate sacrifice: Officer Aubrey Wright Hawkins, Officer Glenn Homs, and Officer Andrew Albert Esparza.
The Irving Police Department expressed deep gratitude for the support shown by the community, the families of the fallen officers, and fellow law enforcement personnel who attended to ensure the heroes are never forgotten.
In a separate statewide tribute, several members of the Irving Police Department's Honor Guard traveled to Austin on April 26th to participate in the annual Texas Peace Officers’ Memorial. This significant event brings together officers from across the state to honor and perpetuate the memory of Texas law enforcement officers who gave their lives in the line of duty while serving their communities.
