The North Richland Hills Police Department (NRHPD) is investigating a homicide that occurred on the evening of Tuesday, April 29, 2025, in the 8400 block of Emerald Hills Way. The incident took place near a public park and an adjacent apartment complex.
At approximately 10:28 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area following 9-1-1 calls reporting gunfire and a vehicle crash. Upon arrival, they discovered two individuals with gunshot wounds in different locations within the nearby apartment complex.
A male victim, identified as 17-year-old Alvin Ray Sweet, was found inside a black Honda Civic that had crashed into a parked vehicle. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported by North Richland Hills Fire Department personnel to JPS Hospital in Fort Worth, where he later died from his injuries.
A second victim, an adult female, was found near an apartment door with a gunshot wound to her upper body. Officers provided immediate medical assistance before she was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
The NRHPD has confirmed that this is an active homicide investigation. No suspects are currently in custody.
