Fort Worth Man Sentenced to 35 Years for Continuous Child Sexual Abuse

The Tarrant County District Attorney's Office announced today that 42-year-old Matthew Nichols pled guilty to the continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14. Nichols was subsequently sentenced to 35 years in prison.

According to the District Attorney's Office, the abuse occurred between January 2020 and July 2022. During this time, Nichols repeatedly sexually assaulted the daughter of a family friend.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Tad Schmidt and Neal Maranto. The District Attorney's Office also acknowledged the work of DA Investigator Brad Gantt and Victim Coordinator Christina Rangel.

In a statement released May 1st, the District Attorney's Office commended the Fort Worth Police Department for their thorough investigation of the case.
