Southwest Park Unveils $3 Million Renovation with New Features and Upgrades

Renovations at Southwest Park, located at 2800 W. Shady Grove Road, are now complete, bringing a host of exciting new features and upgrades to the 19-acre community space.

The $3 million improvement project, funded through the 2021 Municipal Bond Election and federal grant money, has transformed the park with several key additions:

  • A lighted .25-mile concrete walking trail

  • A new restroom building

  • New playground equipment and shade structures

  • Interconnected sidewalks throughout the park

  • A multi-use futsal court

  • Picnic tables and benches

  • Outdoor fitness equipment

  • A new irrigation system

  • Drainage upgrades

These enhancements mark a major milestone in the city’s 2019 Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan, which designated Southwest Park as a top priority for improvements. The completed upgrades aim to improve accessibility, recreational opportunities, and overall park enjoyment for the community.
