The City of Glenn Heights has appointed Dr. Glyn Horn as its new Chief of Police, who officially took the helm of the department last month.
Chief Horn brings a wealth of diverse leadership and policing experience to the role. Known for his track record in organizational transformation, Chief Horn emphasizes a leadership style focused on creating transparent environments that foster team development and enhance trust in leadership.
"My unwavering commitment to transparency in community engagement, communication, and actions is essential for building and maintaining trust within our ranks and with the public," stated Chief Horn. "I embody the spirit of a cop's cop while also being a chief the community can trust and rely on confidently."
Chief Horn explained that he was drawn to the Police Chief position in Glenn Heights due to a unique and profound connection he felt with the opportunity. "From my interactions with the executive leadership team, staff members, and the community, it's evident that Glenn Heights is where I am meant to be. My strong sense of faith reinforces my belief that my path is clearly defined and my steps are ordered," he said.
Prior to joining Glenn Heights, Chief Horn served as the Deputy Chief of Patrol and Security Operations for the Regional Transportation District in Denver, CO, where he was later appointed and served as the Acting Chief of Police. His career began with the City of Stafford, TX, where he spent 16 years, including seven as the city’s Assistant Chief of Police. His initial exposure to law enforcement came as a security guard for the University of Texas Police Department in the Houston Medical Center, an experience he credits with sparking his passion for policing.
Looking ahead, Chief Horn is committed to implementing "One-by-One Policing" at the Glenn Heights Police Department. "This philosophy firmly asserts that our primary responsibility is to serve the entire community," he concluded. "By focusing on individuals, we recognize that each person and their circumstances are unique.
