A collaborative effort between the Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) and the White Settlement Police Department (WSPD) resulted in the apprehension of a suspect on Monday, April 28th, following the theft of a courtesy shuttle and a vehicle pursuit.
At approximately 8:50 p.m., authorities were alerted to a vehicle chase initiated by Fort Worth Police, who were pursuing a vehicle northbound on S. Las Vegas Trail from Calmont Avenue. The vehicle involved was a courtesy shuttle that had been reported stolen earlier in the day from a dealership in White Settlement.
The suspect subsequently crashed the shuttle into a fire hydrant and a neighbor's fence in the 8900 block of Sunset Ct and S. Las Vegas Trail before fleeing the scene on foot.
WSPD Officer Conley was in the vicinity and witnessed the crash and the suspect's flight. Utilizing this information, Officer Conley coordinated responding units to establish a perimeter to contain the suspect. The FWPD Air One helicopter and a K9 unit were deployed to assist in the search.
The FWPD Directed Response Unit also joined the effort, and the suspect was successfully taken into custody without incident around 9:30 p.m.
The Fort Worth Police Department will be filing charges against the suspect related to the pursuit. The White Settlement Police Department will also add charges concerning the theft of the vehicle and the damage caused to the fire hydrant and fence.
Authorities lauded the teamwork between the two agencies in securing the suspect's arrest and confirmed that no citizens were injured during the incident. Corporal Poarch served as the shift supervisor, and Officer Wiseman also provided assistance. The WEST COMM 911 dispatchers who managed the incident were Gunnar Tomlinson and Kim Podsednik, who were commended for their work.
