On April 18, 2025, a judge revoked probation for 26-year-old Osvaldo Cristobal and sentenced him to a combined 60 years in prison following a contested probation violation hearing.
Cristobal had been serving an 8-year deferred adjudication probation for Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG 1 ≥400 grams and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. While on probation, Cristobal violated the terms by committing a new offense: Assault Family Member Impede Breath/Circulation.
During the hearing, the victim testified that Cristobal assaulted her for several hours before she was able to escape and call authorities.
The court found Cristobal in violation of his probation and sentenced him to 40 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for the Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance ≥400G charge and 20 years for the Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon charge.
The case was led by prosecutor Rachel Champion, supported by DA Investigators Richard Forness and Catherine Justice, and Victim Advocate Melodie Alexander.
