Dallas Police Department Resumes Investigation of 1998 Cold Case Murder of Hermenegildo Martinez

In an ongoing effort to seek justice for a long-standing cold case, the Dallas Police Department has recently intensified its investigation into the unsolved murder of 29-year-old Hermenegildo Martinez. The tragic incident took place on December 6, 1998, when Mr. Martinez was shot and killed in the 4900 block of East Side Drive.

According to eyewitness accounts, Mr. Martinez was among a group of individuals gathered in a parking lot when three unidentified African American men approached them. The suspects, driven by their motives, demanded money from the group. Succumbing to the demands, one of the victims handed over their cash.

As the suspects prepared to flee the scene, a senseless act of violence erupted. Without warning, one of the assailants fired a fatal gunshot, taking the life of Hermenegildo Martinez.
