A student at Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after school administrators were alerted to a threat of violence and the presence of a weapon on campus.
According to a letter sent to parents by Dr. Justin Barrett, the school's principal, Fort Worth police were called to the campus and ensured the safety of students and staff. The student was quickly detained, and the situation was resolved without disruption to instruction.
"At no time have we been on hold, and student instruction has not been interrupted," Barrett stated in the letter.
Barrett also reminded students and parents that weapons are strictly prohibited on campus and that anyone found in possession will face disciplinary action and potential legal consequences.
The principal thanked School Resource Officers and the Fort Worth Police Department for their swift response in handling the situation.
