Two people are in critical condition, and a firefighter was hospitalized after a garage fire spread, engulfing a duplex in Dallas early Monday, January 20th.
Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to a 911 call at a one-story duplex in the 10600 block of Boedeker Street just before 6 a.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found the blaze in the garage at the back of the home and quickly began battling the flames while conducting search-and-rescue operations.
Two residents were rescued from inside the home and transported to a local hospital, where they remain in critical condition. Firefighters fought the fire from the outside, preventing it from spreading to the other side of the duplex or nearby homes.
One firefighter sustained a leg injury during the rescue and was taken to the hospital. Three residents from the unaffected side of the duplex evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported among them.
The fire's cause, which started in the garage, remains under investigation.
