As Texas continues to experience rapid growth, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is calling for an update to the state's transportation funding strategies. Mark Williams of TxDOT emphasized that the existing ten-year, $100 billion transportation plan requires expansion to meet the increasing demands. He noted that easing traffic congestion could yield a significant economic impact, estimated at $17 billion.
Earlier this year, Governor Greg Abbott announced additional funding aimed at improving streets and roads, with the state currently investing approximately $2 billion annually on maintenance efforts.
