DeSoto Man Found Guilty in Major Cocaine Bust Following Car Accident

Darrion Whiten has been found guilty in a case involving the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance after wrecking his car on I-35 Southbound in DeSoto. Whiten, who was intoxicated at the time of the crash, abandoned the vehicle in the left lane, prompting multiple witnesses to provide a description of him to authorities.

DeSoto Police officers located Whiten at a nearby gas station within 20 minutes of the incident. During an inventory search of his car, officers discovered half a pound of cocaine packaged in 1-ounce distribution bags on the driver's side floorboard.

The trial, led by prosecutor Michael Chang with Clint Stiffler serving as second chair, included testimony from DA investigators Bonita Morgan and Tom Naulty. The DeSoto Police Department spearheaded the investigation.

Whiten was found guilty of manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance in an amount greater than 200 grams but less than 400 grams. He has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
