The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is developing a strategic 10-year transportation plan and is seeking public feedback on proposed projects across the state. The draft for the 2025 Unified Transportation Program (UTP) outlines a budget of $104.2 billion, marking the second consecutive year that the UTP exceeds the $100 billion threshold.
TxDOT will hold a virtual public meeting on Tuesday, July 2, at 2 p.m. to discuss the draft 2025 UTP. A second virtual public hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, July 31, at 2 p.m., allowing attendees to provide comments on the program. Interested participants can join these meetings by phone or online at TxDOT.gov.
The UTP serves as a guide for developing projects aimed at enhancing safety, alleviating congestion, and improving connectivity throughout Texas. The plan encompasses various transportation modes, including public transit, maritime, aviation, rail, freight and international trade, as well as bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure. TxDOT collaborates with transportation partners to identify projects for inclusion in the UTP, which is updated annually.
The public comment period for the draft 2025 UTP will run from Friday, July 5, to Monday, August 5, at 4 p.m. Individuals can visit the UTP Public Involvement page for additional information on how to submit comments. Recordings of the public meeting and hearing will be made available for later viewing, and an online comment form will be accessible in multiple languages, including English, Arabic, Cantonese, Hindi, Mandarin, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
Public comments and feedback are important in developing the plan. Available in English and Spanish, the UTP Fact Sheet provides an overview of the program.
