31-year-old Anthony Bryant of Dallas was found guilty of aggravated robbery in a case heard in court. Bryant, accused of committing two counts of aggravated robbery, faced trial with Doug Millican leading the prosecution and Jessica Lynch as second chair. The investigation into the crimes was carried out by DA Investigator Chris Frosch and the Dallas Police Department.
The court heard that Bryant had lured a young couple under the pretense of showing them a car he had for sale in West Dallas. However, upon reaching a darkened street, Bryant shot the female victim and then demanded money from the male victim. Even after receiving the money, Bryant shot the male victim again before fleeing the scene.
Despite Bryant's claim of self-defense during the trial, the jury was presented with evidence of his previous conviction for aggravated robbery and his affiliation with a criminal street gang. Ultimately, Bryant was found guilty and sentenced to 60 years in prison. Despite the severity of their injuries, the young couple survived after spending months in the hospital.
