Police Pursuit Ends in Arrests Following Irving Mall Robbery

On Friday, April 19, 2024, at approximately 5:03 pm, Irving Police were alerted to a robbery at the Macy's store within Irving Mall. The suspects were reported to have shoplifterd over $3,000 worth of merchandise.   A description of three suspects was provided by the store employees.  

Irving Police Officers started driving around and a vehicle with three occupants was spotted that matched the description.   A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle, but as officers approached, the driver fled the scene.

A few minutes later the suspected vehicle wrecked into a restaurant.  Following the crash, the three occupants fled on foot in different directions.

A response by five Irving Officers resulted in the apprehension of two of the suspects shortly after. Recovered from the vehicle were the stolen items.

The arrested individuals have been identified as 27-year-old Celenee Elexus Malazha Shaw of Dallas and 27-year-old Tatiana Shawnte Washington-Smith of Terrell.

Shaw faces charges including robbery, possession of controlled substance PG 2, and evading arrest with a vehicle. Additionally, she had an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault from the Dallas County Sheriff's Office.  Shaw has multiple arrests in her history dealing with Robbery, Assault, Criminal Mischief, Evading Arrest and Assaulting a Peace Officer. The law has been lenient as she received 5 years of Probation for Robbery, Assaulting an Officer and Evading Arrest with a Vehicle in February 2022.

Washington-Smith, a convicted felon with a history of incarceration, was charged with robbery and had an open warrant for domestic violence assault.

Both Shaw and Washington-Smith were transferred to the Dallas County Jail on April 21st and April 22nd, respectively. The third suspect remains at large as the investigation continues.
