Man Swept Into White Rock Creek Found Deceased After Extensive Search Efforts

Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) units responded to a distress call on Saturday, April 20th, at 10:32 p.m. The call reported a man swept into White Rock Creek, located at 4945 W. Lawther Drive, while attempting to cross the waterway on foot. The woman accompanying him contacted 911, remaining unharmed and providing crucial information to responders.

A concerted effort involving multiple DFR units, including boats, rescues, heavy apparatus, and their drone team, collaborated with Dallas Police Department (DPD) resources throughout the night in search operations, extending into the early hours of the morning without success.

On Sunday morning, between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., both police and fire units resumed search efforts. With calmer water conditions and slightly lower levels, crews were able to locate the deceased body of a man resembling the missing individual at approximately 11:30 a.m. The body was found approximately 100 yards downstream from the initial disappearance site.

Following recovery, the body was transferred to the care of the Dallas County Medical Examiner for confirmation of identity and determination of cause of death.
