Man Killed in Frisco Police Shootout Identified

The man killed in a shootout with Frisco Police on Saturday, March 16, 2024, has been identified as 42-year-old Donavan Ray Favors. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed Favors died from multiple gunshot wounds at a residence on the 5100 block of Lorraine Drive in Frisco.

Frisco Police responded to a burglary call on the same block, where a person began shooting at officers during the investigation. In response, officers returned fire, resulting in the death of the suspect.

A subsequent statement from Frisco Police clarified that the suspect initiated the gunfire exchange, and officers acted in self-defense. The suspect's identity was initially withheld pending confirmation from the Medical Examiner's Office.

According to reports, a man and his girlfriend discovered the suspect attempting to steal from their garage as they were moving into their new apartment. With the help of a moving man, they prevented the suspect from escaping, leading him to flee on foot. The couple then alerted authorities, prompting the arrival of Frisco Police.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing and being lead by the Texas Rangers.
