Army Veteran Found Dead in Fort Worth Motel Room from Fentanyl and Cocaine Toxicity

Fort Worth Police Officers responded to a distress call at the Motel 6 on I-35W and W. Seminary Dr in the afternoon of March 6, 2024. Upon arrival, they found an unconscious man in one of the motel rooms. The man, identified as 28-year-old Andrew Alaniz of Alice, Texas, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

An autopsy conducted by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner determined the time of death as 1:07 pm and cited the cause of death as Fentanyl and Cocaine Toxicity.

According to his obituary, Andrew Alaniz had served in the United States Army as an Army Medic for five years, proudly fulfilling his duties while stationed in Texas and completing one deployment to Iraq. After his service, he pursued education, obtaining an associate's degree from Austin Community College. He was currently enrolled at the University of North Texas, working towards a degree in social work.
