Police Respond to Self-Harm Threat in Bridgeport

Earlier today, residents in the 1700 Block of Carpenter Street, Bridgeport, TX (Wise County) noticed an increased police presence as Bridgeport Police Officers responded to a self-harm investigation.

According to officials, a male subject had barricaded himself in his residence and made threats of self-harm. Additionally, he threatened to shoot responding officers if they did not leave.

After negotiations, officers successfully persuaded the individual to exit the residence without resorting to force. The male was then transported to a local hospital for medical and mental health evaluation.

Bridgeport Police Chief Stanford expressed gratitude for the resolution, stating, "I’m grateful for a successful ending to this critical incident. Our officers responded in a professional manner by patiently communicating with the male subject and deploying crisis intervention techniques which resulted in a positive outcome."
