Driver Critical After Being Extracted from Single-Vehicle Crash in Killeen

On Friday, March 8, 2024, at 9:42 p.m., Killeen Police officers responded to a 911 call reporting a vehicle crash at the intersection of E. Central Texas Expressway and S. WS Young Drive. Upon arrival, officers found a single vehicle on its driver side in a ditch.

According to preliminary investigations, a black 2021 Dodge SUV was traveling westbound on Central Texas Expressway at a high speed. The vehicle veered off the road near the southwest exit of the Killeen Mall, continued on the shoulder, through a drainage ditch, and onto S. WS Young Drive. The SUV crossed the road and flipped onto its side upon entering another drainage ditch at the northwest corner of S. WS Young and Central Texas Expressway.

The driver was pinned inside the vehicle and had to be extracted by the Killeen Fire Department. The driver was then airlifted to Baylor Scott and White Hospital in critical condition.
