On Monday afternoon, February 26, 2024, emergency services responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a major crash at the intersection of Rufe Snow and Hightower in Watauga.
The Watauga Fire Department, with assistance from North Richland Hills and Haltom City Fire Departments, worked quickly to extricate two individuals from the wreckage. Both occupants of the vehicle sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that the black vehicle was observed traveling at a high rate of speed and attempted to beat the red light at the intersection. However, the vehicle lost control, striking the curb and becoming airborne before colliding with a 7-Eleven sign.
The crash is under investigation.
