Abilene Police Make Arrest in Fatal Hit-and-Run Incident That Claimed Life of Pedestrian

Abilene Police have made an arrest in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred last week.

Gabriella Lujan, 28, of Hawley TX, was arrested on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, and charged with Second Degree Felony Accident Involving Death and Failure to Stop and Render Aid. These charges stem from an incident on Friday, February 16, 2024, when a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the 3100 block of Pine Street.

The victim, identified as 58-year-old Brenda Ann Janiszewski Jodoin of Virginia, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Abilene Police Department, the collision occurred at 9:40 p.m. when a vehicle traveling north on Pine Street hit Jodoin, who was in the roadway, and then fled without stopping.

Lujan is currently held in the Taylor County Jail as the investigation continues.
