Convicted Criminal Sentenced for Murder and Aggravated Robbery in Dallas

Garrett Shay Hamilton

Garrett Hamilton, a resident of Dallas, Texas, has been found guilty of multiple charges, including murder and aggravated robbery, following a series of violent crimes that shook the community in late 2022. The defendant's actions left two individuals dead and several others traumatized.

The crime spree began on October 25, 2022, when Hamilton murdered Clarence Howard in Dallas. Over the following days, he carried out a string of robberies, targeting innocent individuals at gunpoint. On November 2, 2022, he robbed three people, starting at 5 am at a Bank of America in Dallas. Later that morning, he robbed a woman at a Wells Fargo ATM in Duncanville, threatening her with a gun. By 10 am, he had robbed another woman at gunpoint at the same Bank of America branch he had targeted earlier in the day. Tragically, later that same day around 5 pm, Hamilton took the life of Lorenz Nussbaum in Cedar Hill.

Hamilton's reign of terror came to an end on November 5, 2022, when he was arrested by the Dallas Police Department for driving a stolen vehicle from Grapevine. The collaborative efforts of the Dallas, Duncanville, and Cedar Hill Police Departments, along with other law enforcement agencies across the region, were instrumental in apprehending Hamilton and bringing him to justice.

Following his conviction, Hamilton pleaded guilty to the charges against him. He has been sentenced to life in prison for the murders and 25 years for the aggravated robberies and probation violation.
