In the early hours of Sunday, February 18th, emergency services responded to a serious accident on northbound Interstate 35W near Wilshire Blvd/174. Reports indicate that a pickup truck was traveling in the wrong direction, heading southbound in the northbound lanes, when it collided head-on with an 18-wheeler.
The driver of the pickup truck, identified as 33-year-old Jose Michel Garcia-Casas of Arlington, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
As a result of the collision, all northbound lanes of Interstate 35W were shut down from approximately 3:30 am until 9:15 am to facilitate police investigation and clean-up efforts.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
