New Exhibit and Dedication at Prism Center Celebrates North Dallas Black History

District 11 Councilmember Jaynie Schultz will unveil a new exhibit and dedicate a conference room at the Prism Center in Dallas's International District on Sunday, February 18 from 2 to 4 p.m. The North Dallas Black History exhibit will showcase the contributions of African Americans in the region, particularly District 11. Dr. George Keaton Jr., remembered for his community work, will have a conference room dedicated to him at the center.

Councilmember Schultz emphasized the significance of the exhibition, stating it offers a chance for the community to appreciate the remarkable contributions of African Americans to North Dallas. The exhibit will feature displays highlighting key events, landmarks, and individuals who have shaped the area over the years. Special guest Dr. Opal Lee, known as the grandmother of Juneteenth, will share historical insights.

The exhibition will be open to the public throughout February and March. Alongside the exhibit, the Prism Center will dedicate a conference room to Dr. George E. Keaton, recognizing his efforts in preserving Dallas's black history. Councilmember Schultz praised Dr. Keaton's dedication and noted that the dedication ensures his legacy endures.
