HUD Awards Over $27 Million to All Neighbors Coalition to Combat Homelessness in Dallas and Collin Counties

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has announced a significant funding boost for efforts to address homelessness in Dallas and Collin counties. The All Neighbors Coalition, a collaborative network of more than 140 organizations, including the City of Dallas Office of Homeless Solutions, will receive over $27 million in annual funding.

This funding marks a 23% increase over 2022 and a 44% increase over 2021. It reflects the collective efforts of the region to tackle homelessness through partnerships with behavioral healthcare and housing agencies. The funding is part of HUD's $3.16 billion homelessness assistance funding nationwide through its Continuum of Care program, aimed at expanding housing and services projects for families, survivors of domestic violence, and individuals experiencing chronic homelessness.

Christine Crossley, Director of the Office of Homeless Solutions, emphasized the significance of the coalition's partnership with the City of Dallas in driving efforts to provide housing for the homeless. She highlighted the impact of overcoming systemic barriers and developing innovative solutions to support the most vulnerable in the community.

Sarah Kahn, President and CEO of Housing Forward, stressed the importance of increased funding in scaling up effective strategies to reduce homelessness. The coalition's focus on evidence-based approaches and public-private partnerships has led to significant progress, with a 160% increase in monthly housing placements in recent years.

The All Neighbors Coalition has demonstrated a solid commitment to ending homelessness, resulting in a 14% reduction in unsheltered homelessness and a 32% reduction in chronic homelessness last year. The funding will further leverage partnerships with Dallas County, North Texas Behavioral Health Authority, and service providers to expand rehousing assistance and wrap-around services for families and individuals exiting homelessness.
